The School of Textile - Leather and Fashion (STLF) - Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) is an educational institute, training high-quality human resource for Vietnam's textile and garment industry from 1956 to present. The STLF is the only institute assigned by the Ministry of Education and Training to train masters and doctorates in the field of Textile Technology, bachelors and engineers in the field of Leather and Footwear Technology. The STLF has a prestigious relation with domestic and international textile, garment, and footwear enterprises.

   To serve the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country, the teachers and students of the STLF striving to:

• Building the STLF to become an esteemed national and international institute regarding education and research in the fields of Textile, Garment, Footwear, and Fashion. Maintaining its position as the leading organization in Vietnam, retaining its place in the Southeast Asia rankings according to the graduate employability evaluation and the creative capacity.

• Having successfully implemented a comprehensive autonomy model with an advanced governance in accordance with the autonomy regulation of HUST.

   STLF has 33 staff, including 29 lecturers, which are 7 Associate Professors, 15 PhDs, the rest are Masters. Most of the lecturers were trained at major universities in the world.

   Textile industry is one of the traditional disciplines that was started at HUST from the early days of its establishment. Since 1965 up to now, the STLF has been training a large number of highly qualified technicians, engineers, masters, and doctors to meet the society’s needs for each stage of the nation's development. Many people have become teachers, great scientists, general managers, and directors of many large enterprises in Vietnam.

   Currently, the STLF is training the following disciplines: Textile Technology, Garment Technology, and Leather and Footwear Technology.

   At the present time, there are about 1000 students, master and PhD students studying at the STLF under the following training systems: full-time, continuing education, 2nd degree, master, and PhD courses.

   STLF always has close relationships with prestigious domestic and international companies, educational and research institutes, allowing students to have theoretical and practical knowledge, full experience, in order to acquire jobs right after graduation. Many graduates become technicians, engineers, and key managers in textile enterprises.
